Each year, the West Georgia Two-Cylinder Club has made at least one addition / improvement to the
Old Time Farm Days. This year the celebration was kicked off with a thirty mile tractor ride. The ride
started at the sales barn on Highway 61, then north to Villa Rica, west to Bremen, a barbeque lunch
at the home of Sandra & Richard Morris, south to Carrollton and after a ride through downtown, back to
the barn. Twenty-two drivers showed up in the rain which let up just in time for the ride. All the tractors
completed the journey and we had a great time. The following weekend, as everything we've done lately,
started in the rain and we thank God for it. Saturday morning, after a Friday night barbeque supper, the
sky was dark and it was raining. By time for the tractor parade the rain stopped and the day got
prettier as time went on. In spite of the weather and gas prices, we had a good turnout of exhibitors,
vendors, and visitors. This year's welcome ceremony included a tribute to Monroe Bell who passed
away on April 1st, as his wife Barbara brought in the USA Flag flying from a Farmall M. Monroe's
John Deere "L" series collection was on display. Everyone pitched in to have a great tractor pull, garden
tractor pulls, and the highlight pedal tractor pulls and races. Interesting observations of the children
include the little girl trying to pick up all the "pink rocks", the little boy slamming down his ribbon and
shouting 2nd place, and the little guy who just jumped up and down straddling his tractor until someone
showed him how to use the pedals (he went from last to first and won the race). Thanks to everyone
who helped to make this one of the best shows ever.
May Meeting
Our next monthly meeting will be Tuesday, May 13, 2007, at the AG ED CTR, at the intersection of
ALT 27 & Bypass 166. We will be discussing upcoming events including Tractor Shows, Pulls, etc.
Our guest speaker will be Katie Murray, Agri-Science teacher and FFA sponsor of this year's scholarship
winner, Courtney Hylton from Temple High School. Through his generosity, Mr. Sonny Stapleton (this
year's raffle winner) has agreed to accept the cash prize and allow us to raffle the 1953 John Deere
40 Standard again this year. Ticket books will be available at the meeting. Door prizes at the meeting,
will include a John Deere Unstyled Model "BW with fenders" toy tractor. As always, there will be good
food and fellowship. We need your participation in planning our activities. Bring lots of covered dishes
and be there by 7:30 p.m.
Prayers and Cares
It was great to see Jesse and Joan Thornton on Saturday and Sunday at the April Show. Jesse is
doing well under the care of physicians and his own private nurse, Joan.
We have good news from Emil Davidson and "not so good" news from Virginia Davidson. Emil is
recovering nicely from his heart bypass surgery. His diabetes is causing blood sugar swings, but Emil
says he is doing MUCH better. Virginia, on the other hand, couldn't stand all the attention Emil was
getting (just kidding, of course) and decided to have her own heart attack! The doctors put in a stent,
retrieved two blood clots, and told Virginia to take it easy for a while in the Intensive Care Unit at
Tanner Hospital. She is at home now, taking medications to help her heal.
Both of these families have been through a lot lately. We are so thankful they are doing better.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to recuperate.

Kyle Cook wins 14 HP Class Pull at Hackleburg, AL

On April 26th, Kyle, the Curry pulling team (pictured above with Sandy Burchett) and others participated
in a garden tractor pull at the Hackleburg, AL Neighbor Day Festival. Hackleburg is absolutely the place
to be the fourth Saturday in April each year. The annual festival starts at 8:00 a.m. with a 5k run and a
1 mile walk. Live music, entertainment and prize giveaways begin at 9:00 a.m. Every other year Sonny
James "The Southern Gentleman" (and was inducted into the CMA in November 2006) is on hand to
sign autographs. There are numerous entertainers performing all day. They have a motorcycle show,
a street rod and car show, and a tractor show with a tractor parade. They have an exhibit hall with arts,
crafts and quilts. There are numerous vendors, lots of food, lots of fun, kids activities and more.
